If I am with your horse in the capacity of a hoof trimmer, I expect the horse to know how to stand for hoof care.  If there are behavioral and training issues that impact the quality of my work, I retain the right to decline working with any horse that compromises the safety of all concerned.  If I have to bring a experienced handler to hold your horse, I will charge a fee.

  • I will make every effort to stay on schedule and to arrive for appointments on time.  I always attempt to call ahead if I am running behind schedule, and I will give as much notice as possible should I have to cancel.
  • I prefer to observe the horse in motion (walk & sometimes trot or gait) prior to starting work (to evaluate way of going, needed corrections/lameness, etc).
  • If your horse is too energetic to stand, sometimes turn-out, lunging, riding or in hand work before I arrive is recommended.
  • If we are working at feeding time, please feed your horse before we begin.
  • I ask you that you maintain a regular trimming schedule. Waiting until your horse is past due for a trim can result in damaged feet, which reduces the quality of my work.

Training and Riding sessions
  • $40 per session - Local
  • $50 per session - Non-local plus  initial trip charge
  • Lesson Package – pay for 3 lessons in advance and receive 4 lesson free
Sessions are one-on-one.  They typically run an hour but can go a little longer (or a little less), depending on the progress made in each session.  Students are expected to participate in the training process.  The goal is to have each session be as meaningful and helpful as possible so you the student can make progress while on your own. The focus is on developing a performance or pleasure horse that is able to be a relaxed, willing, and focused partner. This starts from the ground up.  We will work on “behavioral issues” that are concerns for the client.  The goal is to build a trusting partnership between horse and rider.  I primarily use natural horsemanship methods to do this.   My riding background includes hunter jumpers, western pleasure, and dressage.  I also work with all gaited horse breeds as well as miniatures and mules.
